How To Groove Better To A Steady Click

Even when you are playing to a steady click, there is plenty of room to move within the click. If you are having trouble keeping a steady feel, it will result in speeding up and slowing down to stay par with the click. This is particularly problematic in slower tempos.

Solution: more subdivisions! Program a shaker or a hi-hat to play 8th notes along the quarter-note click for medium tempos. If the tempo is slow, then program a 16th-note feel on shaker or similar percussive sound. If your music has a swung / shuffle feel to it, then you will be programing triplet subdivisions instead of 16th-note subdivisions.

This will really help you lock-in and feel the groove better, thus resulting in a killer-groovy track.
